Betty Lou Veazey Ayo

A ceremony celebrating the life of Betty Lou Veazey Ayo will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday September 14, 2022, at New River Baptist Church, visitation will begin at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

Betty was born in Abbeville, LA on February 23, 1932, and passed from this life on Wednesday September 7, 2022, at the age of 90 years. She was a resident of Gonzales, retired aide with Our Lady of the Lady Regional Medical Center, and a member of New River Baptist Church.

She enjoyed gardening, sewing and her chickens. Her greatest passion was always finding ways to help others.

She is preceded in death by her husband Eugene Joseph Ayo Sr., parents Andrew (Andre’) and Eunice Morgan Veazey, sons Russell and Eugene Ayo, grandchildren Shannon Ayo, Kristian Ayo, and Brandy Hager, Rowell, great grandson Devin Phenald, siblings JoAnn Edwards, Lloyd, Russell, Charles, Jimmy, and Donald Veazey.

Survivors include her children Steve Ayo, Kenny Ayo (Libby), and JoAnn Ayo Hager (Eddie) brother Carl “Toot” Veazey, sisters Jewel Diez and June Delaune, grandchildren Katlyn Hager, Michael Ayo, Russell Ayo, Angie Howell, Leann Ayo, Bryan Ayo, Elliott Ayo, Tony Hager, and Felicia Ayo, also survived by 24 great grandchildren and the light of her life great-great grandchild Maidlyn White, also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and some especially special people in her life David Veazey, Lloyd James Veazey, Michell Templet, Joe Hager and Dee Daigle.

Honored to serve as pallbearers Russell Ayo, Bryan Ayo, Gavin Ayo, Elliot Ayo, Jason White and Ethan Phenald.

Honorary pallbearer will be Lloyd James Veazey.
