William M. Mitchell, Iii

William M. Mitchell, III, “Bill”a resident of Central, LA, passed away on August 22, 2022, at the age 76. He was born in San Antonio, TX, and later moved with his family to Bogalusa, LA. Bill graduated Bogalusa High School in 1965. He enlisted in the US Air Force after graduating.  He was an assistant crew chief on the Hercules C130-E.  He worked for Ashland Chemical until retiring then post retirement worked part-time at Gerry Lane Chevrolet. Bill volunteered with Boy Scout Troop 13 and Pack 13 and was one of the founding adult members of Explorer Post 13 with the Boy Scouts of America.

Survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Bess Seal Mitchell; children, Rebecca Mitchell LeDuff (Roderick) of Central City, LA, Allison Mitchell Martin (Timothy) of Amite, LA, Andrew William Mitchell (Destinie) of Denham Springs, LA; sisters, Margaret Hill (Jimmie) of Bogalusa, LA, Sarah Richardson (Keith) of Angie, LA; brother-in-law, Glenn Richmond of Tylertown, MS; grandchildren, Sarah Lucille LeDuff, Joseph Alexander LeDuff, Logan Wayne Hand, Sebastian Paul Martin, Chrysler Madylyne Mitchell. Also survived by his longtime faithful friend and fellow USAF serviceman, Charles Willard of North Carolina.

Preceded in death by his parents, William Martin Mitchell, Jr. and Sarah May Fairchild Mitchell; and two sisters, May Ann Easterling and Nancy Ellen Richmond.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at First United Methodist Church, 930 North Blvd., Baton Rouge, on Saturday, August 27, 2022, from 9AM until 10:30AM. The service will be held at 10:30AM and interment to follow at Seal Cemetery, Angie, LA.
