Sandra Lynn O’Brien Tanner

Sandra Lynn O’Brien Tanner, age 67, was born on September 18, 1954, in El Dorado, Arkansas and passed from this earthly life into the presence of The Lord on July 12, 2022 in Hammond, Louisiana. Sandy’s strong faith in God led her to faithfully serve the Lord throughout her born again life, as well as through her profession as a florist, for many years. Her mother, Bess O’Brien, was a beautiful example of what a true mother should be and earnestly lived her life zealously for the Lord, modeling for and supporting Sandy to follow in the Lord’s paths, which she faithfully did. Sandy had a sincere love and commitment for the Lord. She deeply loved the things of God and enjoyed serving the Lord by offering her service as well as her financial support to those who sacrificially served the Lord, especially those on the foreign mission fields. In addition to serving the Lord through His work, she also provided many homes and families with their forever fur babies through her Yorkie ministry/business. One of Sandy’s greatest joys was to connect a family with their perfect Yorkie, making many a happy home! Sandy will be forever missed by all who had the pleasure to know her. Her contagious laughter will live on in the hearts of those who shared many good times in the Lord with her! She loved spending time with her son and his family. Her grandsons, who affectionally called her Mimi, were her greatest joys! Through her illness with dementia, she was blessed to have a very supportive support group through her loving family and dear friends. Sandy is preceded in death by her parents Joseph O’Brien, Bess Henderson O’Brien and husband, Ricky Lane Tanner. Sandy leaves to cherish her memory her beloved son, Blake and wife, Nikki and the loves of her heart, their sons, Kai, Kullen and Kamden of Brusly, Louisiana. She also leaves behind her surviving siblings David O’Brien of Arkansas and Kay Underwood and niece, Kim Hardin, of Texas. Sandy also leaves dear friends, Debra Eidson and Jacquelyne Champagne, but especially, Sheila Ann Holder, her beloved, faithful best friend and caregiver who walked every step of her last days journey with her. May the comfort of the Lord be greatly bestowed on all who loved Sandy! We also wish to thank her medical and hospice care team at Harvest Manor, for providing extraordinary and compassionate care to Sandy in the last year and weeks of her life. Private graveside and burial services will be held at a later date at Bethany World Prayer Center, Memorial Garden, Baker, Louisiana, where Sandy will lay at rest until “…the dead in Christ are called up to meet the Lord in the air and then she will be with Him forever.” (1 Thess 4:16-17).
