Bertha Adele Hakenjos Borne Mendoza

Bertha “Del” was called to heaven on June 6, 2022 at the age of 96. Bertha was born on August 23, 1925 to Bertha Aubert Hakenjos and William Henry Hakenjos. She was married to the late Cleven J. Mendoza. Del was preceded in death by her brothers, William,Walter and Warren, her son Darryl, and step sons, Cleven Jr. (Betty) and Bill (Sharon).  She is survived by her sons, Melville (Ann), Marvin (Cheryl) and Glenn (Sandra), step daughters, Nancy (Warren), Mary Anne (Charlie) and step sons Philip, Jim (Burch), Barry (Dena). Also, she is survived by 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. In her teens, Del was an avid swimmer and when she met Cleve they enjoyed dancing together.  Del was an accomplished artist working in canvas, pottery, porcelain dolls and miniatures and won many awards for her creations throughout the years. In her recent years she was cared for by her grandson David. Services will be private with internment at St. Bartholomew’s Cemetery in Algiers, Louisiana.
