Tod Clark Slaughter

Tod Clark Slaughter was born on September 6, 1959 in Gulfport, Mississippi.  On Friday, May 27, 2022, Tod finished his journey on this earth as Rene’ held his hand and Stephanie cradled his head, crying.  Although expected, his passing was met with sorrow and tears.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Myrna Clark Harvey Slaughter and Arris Lee Slaughter, Sr. and his beloved brother, Marion H. Slaughter.

John 16:22

“So also, you have sorrow now, but I will see you again and your hearts will rejoice and no one will take your joy from you”

Tod was a complicated man that lived his life on his terms.  He was an avid hunter and loved fishing, boating, scuba diving and anything else done outdoors.  There was no fencing Tod “in”.  Life was an adventure that he believed should be embraced enthusiastically.

Until recently when illnesses prevented it, Tod worked in the structural steel industry and was employed at Pax, Inc for 44 years.  Danny and David Phillips will always be remembered for their unfailing support and generosity.

Isaiah 40:31

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.”

He leaves behind three children: Tyson Clark Slaughter, Jesse Trae Slaughter and Julia Jean Whitney, a daughter-in-law; Nichole Marie Slaughter his step-grandson; Gavin Broussard; a brother, Arris L. Slaughter, Jr., extended family in Shreveport, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas and his beloved best friend, Jack. Tod is also survived by his fiancée’, Stephanie Schexnayder of Mansura, LA and her family and friends who loved him dearly.

Their grief is only relieved by the knowledge that they will see him again.

John 11:25-26

“Jesus said to her “I am the resurrection and the life.  The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.”

Anyone that knew Tod, knew it was his nature to “Put things off” so it should come as no surprise to learn that he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and asked for forgiveness of his sins the day before he died.  He was lead in prayer by Rene’ Gutierrez who rejoiced when he made that decision. Now that’s procrastination!

John 8:36

“So, if the son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”

Rest in peace, Tod.
