Geri Lynn Smithhart left this earth on March 31st, 2022, at the age of 64 years young while at her home in Prairieville, LA where she enjoyed sitting on her sundeck overlooking Bayou Manchac and watching the peaceful wildlife play about. Geri was born on July 9th, 1957, to Ray and Inez Smithhart in Baton Rouge, LA. She is survived by her brother James Smithhart (Annette), and sister Alvis Young, nephew Casey Smithhart (Fay), niece Stephanie Delatte (Ticky), niece Yvette Smithhart, niece Leigh Lofton, niece Janine Banker, nephew Jason Young (Nancy), niece Donna Young, numerous great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and an abundance of friends across the nation. She is preceded in death by her son Austin Smithhart, parents Ray and Inez Smithhart, and sister Diane Kling. Geri was a 1975 graduate of East Ascension High School and played basketball at the University of New Orleans. Her culinary talents were showcased as an Executive Chef at many fine resorts, country clubs and banquet facilities across the country. After moving from Alaska to Delaware, Geri began working at a casino where she quickly became a favorite dealer and friend to many.  She enjoyed dealing table games and interacting with guests and co-workers. Geri eventually moved back to Louisiana. Her rewarding career path earned her numerous awards, recognition, plaques and trophies. She touched the lives of so many people with her witty personality and comical statements that were sure to brighten your day! She lived her life boldly with an unmatched sense of humor, even during the toughest times. The family is very thankful to all of those who followed her journey and kept up with her daily posts regarding the No Cause – No Cure lung disease. As Geri would end her daily posts: Make the most out of today even if you’re the only one who enjoys it. And be nice. G
