Betty Jean Dowden Norsworthy

Betty Jean Dowden Norsworthy, 85, went home to be with the Lord on March 17, 2022. Betty was born on June 1, 1936 in Kurthwood, La. Betty was a devoted wife of 70 years and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an active member of Celebration Church in Baton Rouge, LA.

Betty was an avid collector of antiques. She truly enjoyed caring for her family and friends. She was a great cook who enjoyed providing family memories through her meals. Betty was known for never forgetting a birthday, anniversary, or special event for a loved one.

Betty is preceded in death by her loving husband, James Norsworthy; her parents, James Curtis and Sarah Hall Dowden; and her siblings Patsy Brinkly and James Dowden. She is survived by her son Elvin Norsworthy (Trudy,) and daughter Sherry Tate DeRossett; grandchildren, Angela Batarseh, Nathan Norsworthy (Lindsey), Amie Payment (Jason), Amanda Tate, Krist Norsworthy (Katie), and Julie Ritchie (Brandon); great-grandchildren, Christian Batarseh, Madison Annison, Angel Batarseh, Ethan Payment, Seth Payment, Evelynn Norsworthy, Jude Hicks, Cohen Ritchie, Grace Norsworthy, Vincent Norsworthy, Piper Norsworthy, Lola Norsworthy, and Everett Ritchie.

A memorial service will be held at Wholly Ground in Walker, La, on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at 2:00 pm. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at The Crossing/Clarity Hospice Hospital, The Heart of Hospice, Aspire Home Health, and to Church Funeral Services in Walker, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to offset medical and funeral expenses.
