Arthur “Art” Earl Bowen

Arthur “Art” Earl Bowen age 66 of Gonzales, LA formerly of Fairmont, WV was born on May 15, 1955, in Birmingham, AL and called West Virginia his home. Art passed from this life on January 30, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He retired from the Army as an SFCE7 with 28 years on January 21, 2005. He was a Vietnam War Era Veteran who served tours of duty in Bosnia and in Afghanistan with his highest honor being a bronze star medal. Not one day would have gone by that he would not have joined the Army again if called to duty. While living in Fairmont he worked for Fairmont Specialty. Once he retired, he relocated to Alabama. Art always enjoyed ginseng hunting, gardening, and sharing stories about his time in the military.

He is survived by his wife Denise Bowen, son Michael Bowen (Misty), daughter Nicolett Bowen, stepsons James Ingram (Emily), Travis Ingram (Emily), Preston Ingram, grandchildren Hal, Jayme, Jackson, Noah, and Catalina. Sisters Terri Moran, Lisa Hathcox (Bud), and brothers Larry Bowen, Donald Bowen (Shannon).

He was preceded in death by his parents Elvin and Earleen Wright Bowen, brother Alvin Bowen, and brother-in-law Tom Moran.

Art will be missed by all who knew him including his special military friends “brothers” Michael Donovan and Rudolph “Rudy” Jefferson. Services with full honors will be held at Grafton National Cemetery in Grafton, WV later this year. In lieu of flowers, the family of Arthur “Art” Earl Bowen’s asks that you consider a donation to defray the cost of funeral expenses. Contributions of any amount are appreciated.
