Charles M. Gross

Charles M. Gross, 89, peacefully entered eternity on January 25, 2022, with his family by his side at his home in Prairieville, LA. He was a former resident of Slidell, Louisiana for 76 years, a graduate from Slidell High School, as well as a Navy veteran of the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Beverly Smith Gross, daughter Tonya Adel Gross (age 7), and second wife of 5 years, Iona Boyd Gross, and his siblings: William (Bill) Gross, Helen Gross Whitfield, and Joyce Gross Evans.

Mr. Gross is survived by his four children and their spouses, Bridget and Gary Mills, Lisa Sheri Gross; Dane and Donna Gross; Jean Frances Gross, 5 grandchildren, and their spouses; Michael Scott Mills, Rachel and Robert Edens, Amanda and Kyle Joiner, Adam and Nelie Gross, Aaron and Hailey Gross, 3 great-grandchildren, and nieces, nephews, and other family members. 

 

He was an active member of the Healing Place Church, and worked with various mission endeavors and charities throughout his life. His interests included family, carpentry, and gardening. In his younger days, he was an avid outdoorsman. He was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ for over 60 years, instrumental church planter, and served as an elder at Church of Faith, in Slidell and received in ordination in 2013.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Healing Place Church on Friday, February 11, 2022 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  Visitation will begin at 10:30 with services following at 11:00.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Evergreen Life Services Southeast 40052 N Hoover Rd. Ponchatoula, La. 70454.
