Amber Marie Bertrand

Having never met a stranger, Amber Marie Bertrand was a light in this world. As a caring, compassionate and witty daughter, sister, aunt and friend, she departed this life at the age of 39 to be with our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Our Lake of the Lake Hospital. Amber was surrounded by her family and friends at the time of her death. She fought a courageous battle against Systemic Sclerosis, a rare and incurable autoimmune disorder.

Amber was born and raised in Baton Rouge, attended St. Alphonsus and graduated from Central High School.

Amber is survived by her loving Mother, Debbie Bertrand; father and spouse, Francis (Bubba) and Carol Bertrand; sister and spouse, Bridget and Todd Hodges; stepbrother, Brian Boudreaux; two adored nephews, Beaux and Jaxon Hodges. Amber’s nephews were one of the greatest joys of her life.

Preceded in death by her grandparents, Mark and Anna Belle Couvillon and Francis and Jane Bertrand; and cousin, Erin Terrell.

Pallbearers are Todd Hodges; Beaux Hodges; Lucas Harless; Jared Vicknair; Brian Boudreaux; and Christian Gardner.

Amber will be missed dearly and forever in our hearts.

Visitation will be at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Hatchell Lane, Denham Springs on Monday, January 17 from 10:15 – 12:00 p.m., followed by a mass conducted by Father Mathew Graham. Interment at Greenoaks Memorial Park, Florida Boulevard in Baton Rouge.

Special thanks to the amazing medical staff at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in the Med-Surg and SICU units.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Scleroderma Research Foundation or St. Jude’s Research Hospital.

“Trust in the Lord will all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” Proverb 3:5
