Earl Guidry

Earl J (Pappy) Guidry, 96 passed away at his home on December 7, 2021 with his two daughters by his side. He was a native of Breaux Bridge and a resident of Port Allen. He was a Veteran of WWII serving in the Navy. He was owner, alongside his wife, of Tri-G Marine Supply on the Mississippi River. He was a boat captain and served on the Marine Transportation Board under Secretary Elizabeth Dole, which was under the Reagan Administration. He was also the President of The Propeller Club, Port of Baton Rouge, for several years and won many awards from the US Coast Guard and Army Corps of Engineers. He played a significant role in helping to get the USS Kidd to Baton Rouge. On September 30, 2020, he lost the love of his life and best friend of 74 years, Evelyna (TeeTa) Guidry, and never recovered from this loss. He was an avid LSU fan not missing a home game in 60 years. He, his wife, and daughter, Kathie, traveled to all of the SEC stadiums and attended the home games in Touchdown Village where all of his friends there became family with this joke only they would understand. “TeeTa, don’t pull the string”. He loved traveling the bayous and waterways of South LA on his houseboat, The TeeTa II, taking many local dignitaries along for the ride. He is survived by his daughters, Kathie Guidry and Janel (Ric) Collet; his grandchildren Hope (Greg) Hebert and Danny Collet; his great granddaughters, Kayla and Karli Hebert, who were the light of his life, and Mia (Dino) and Marla Collet; and his great-great grandson, Dino Tumminello, III along with numerous nieces and nephews and his little fur buddy, Roxie Mae. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyna Frederick Guidry; His parents, Julien and Lorita Latiolais Guidry; His brothers, Ivan, Jim and Ernest Guidry; his sisters, Grace Dupuis, his twin sister Earlie Scrantz, and Anna Dean Peltier. He will be cremated and his ashes will be entwined with his beloved wife. A celebration of life Mass for Earl and Evelyna will be held some time after the first of the year. Special thanks to The Hospice of Baton Rouge, especially Holli and Laurie. Donation may be made to The Hospice of Baton Rouge at 3600 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70806
