Barbara was born February 17, 1938; from Maurepas, LA. After devoting her time to raising and developing the fundamentals of life to her five children, she attended Ascension Vo Tech and later went to work for Blue Cross Blue Shield where she later retired. Barbara was a seamstress from the age of 14 and took pleasure in her sewing creativity from wedding gowns to quilts. She was a proud member of The Happy Quilters’ sewing group in St. Amant, LA. Barbara was a loving wife and mother as well as a devoted grandmother.
Barbara is survived by her beloved husband, Earl E. Penalber; daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene Moore and David Moore, Karen Demaree and Michael Demaree, Patricia Hamilton and Vince Hamilton, and Melissa Springman and Mark Springman; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild along with sisters, Gloria Berthelot Richardson and Judy Berthelot Richardson.
She is preceded in death by her son, Todd E. Penalber; brother, Robert Berthelot, Jr.; and her parents, Thelma and Robert Berthelot Sr.
The family is sincerely grateful for the devoted team of caregivers who aided us in enabling her to live out her remaining days at home with her family with peace, comfort, and dignity. Mom’s wishes were to not have any service but for all her friends and family to celebrate her life (legacy) rather than her passing. You are welcome to send donations to her favorite charities: St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital, Louisiana Pediatric Cardiology Heart Association and Heart of Hospice. May our dear mother rest in peace.
