Claries Singleton

Claries B. Singleton/Harris (Gran) went home to her Lord and Savior on September 18, 2021 at the age of 84.

Claries was born to Luevada Nolden and Thelma “Felt” Harris on December 13, 1936 in Tupelo, Mississippi. As a child she grew up in Cleveland Mississippi where she enjoyed engaging in various sports and activities. She also enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends.

As an adult, Claries decided to venture off to a much larger atmosphere and moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she worked as a barmaid for several years at different venues ranging from Ruth’s Mini Club to The Riviera Lounge in which she met her loving husband James Singleton. While still in Chicago, Claries decided to start a family of her own.

On February 15, 1963, she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Sabrina Taylor. Years later, Claries was blessed with two grandchildren Cedric J. Taylor and Daimon D. Taylor. After years went bye she relocated to Natchez, MS where she continued to be a loving mother and grandmother as well as a great grandmother of four loving grandchildren, Ayden J. Taylor, Londyn M. Taylor, Karmen A. Taylor, and Jordyn M. Taylor.

While still in Natchez, Claries also loved indulging in working in her garden/yard, watching sports, and staying actively involved in the church choir at Christian Hope Baptist Church.

Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her.

Claries then relocated to Baton Rouge, LA, where she spent the rest of her days empowering others with her positivity and showing others that it is possible to be strong until your very last breath. She made sure everyone was at ease before making her transition.

On September 18, 2021, Claries made her way to her heavenly home, joining her parents, Luevada Nolden and Thelma Harris. Siblings: Michelle Towns (Chicago, IL), Shange Harris (Flint, MI), Jamie Harris (Chicago, IL) Tommy Harris (Cleveland, MS) and other family/friends.
