Edna Lafaye ‘Meme” Sparks

Edna LaFaye ‘Meme” Sparks, born in Crossett, AR and resident of Zachary, LA, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at the age of 91.  Meme loved her family and friends and deeply enjoyed spending time with them, especially her great grandchildren.  She retired after 25 years of service as secretary for the Mayor of the City of Zachary.  Meme is survived by her daughter, Pam Sparks Buvens; grandchildren, Nicole Waddell (Stephen), Jacquelyn Banas, Erick Buvens (Haley), Kayleigh Buvens; great grandchildren, Hunter and Lincoln Waddell, Easton and Elaina Buvens; sister, Lois Haney; niece, Joanne Cripe; beloved dog, Bijou.  Meme is preceded in death by her husband, James Odelle “J.O” Sparks and parents Vergie and John Haney.  A memorial service to celebrate Meme’s life will be on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at the Waddell residence from 2pm until 4pm.  The family requests all floral arrangements be sent to the Waddell residence as well.  The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, as well as Pinnacle Hospice, Feliciana Home Health, and The Crossing Hospice Facility for their kindness, care, and compassion.  To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.churchfuneralservices.com .  Arrangements entrusted with Church Funeral Services of Baton Rouge.
