Donald Ray Van Osdell

Donald Ray Van Osdell was born on January 17, 1940, in Baton Rouge and departed from this life on June 28, 2021, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center Main Campus Baton Rouge, at the age of 81 years.

Donnie was a resident of Sorrento, he was an avid sports fan especially LSU Tigers football and baseball, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and time spent with family. He served with the U S Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edgar Egan and Lillie Elizabeth Rushing Van Osdell, siblings Edward James Van Osdell, Katherine Elizabeth Lewis, Joyce V. McManus, step grandson Jeremy Eades, nephews Jo McManus, Bobby Seever and Edward “Buster” Van Osdell Jr.

Survivors include his wife Jossie Ann Pennington Van Osdell, children Kathy Van Osdell, Donald Van Osdell Jr (Karen) all of Portland, OR., stepchildren James A. Pennington, Joe Gregory Pennington (Karen), Ganetta Jo Savoy (Kent), and Chris A. Pennington (Laura); sister Janice Brown; brother Richard Rushing; grandchildren Amber Dawn Van Osdell, Brian James Pennington, Jason Gregory Pennington, Tracy Jo Pruitt, Julia Michaelle Savoy, Kristen Louise Savoy, Corey Michael Savoy, Christian Joseph Pennington, Kamron Cross, and Evian Cross; great grandchildren Caitlin Marie, Cade Nicholas, Cylie Brianne, Cole Matthew, and Chase Logan Pennington, and Penny Jo Pruitt; also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
