Winton Earl (Pudd) Turner

Memorial Services for Winton Earl (Pudd) Turner, 85, will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 3:00pm at Zoar Baptist Church with Rev. Glen Miers as officiant and family relative Wayne Miller. Visitation will be held at the church from 1:00pm until the time of memorial services.

 

Winton was a graduate of Istrouma High School, graduated with a Masters Degree in Education at LSU, quarterback and a 4 year lettermen in football and a member of the L Club, taught at Redemptorist High School as well as a coach and was an Assistant and Head Coach/Teacher at Lee High School. He was employed as a salesman and builder with Johns and Hodges Real Estate, worked for Chuck Johns Builders and Owner of Win Turner Builders.

 

He was passionate about his family and faith. He loved to fish and hunt with his buddies and his sons/son-in-laws and played golf for a number of years. He was a competitor, compassionate, humble, gentle, kind, loving and devoted to his entire family and friends.

 

He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Beverly Turner; three children, Teresa Curtis (Mike), Mark Turner (Jan) and Tara Pocorello (Lonnie); sister, Muriel J Cox; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Paul and Jo-Ann Miller; thirteen grandchildren; Brandon, Brett (Val), Stacy (Danny), Leigh Ann, Rachel (Sean), Jeremy, Brooke (CJ), Adam, Paxton, Dexter, Jessica (Hank), Jada (Barry) and Jena; fourteen great-grandchildren; Rylee, Maxim, Brody, Phoebe, Taylor, Ian, Caitlyn, Chloe, Tripp, Blakely, Brody, Makenzie, Brock and Bella; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Godfrey and Lois Turner; son, Michael Alan Turner; great-grandson, James Raymond Ezell; maternal parents, Joseph and Bertha Daigle; sister, Barbara Farris; brother-in-law, Charley Farris and Sgt. John O. “Buddy” Cox, Sr.

 

The family wishes to express appreciation to The Hospice of Baton Rouge, doctors and nurses for their loving care and support.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family would like for donations in his honor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

 

He completed the fourth quarter and the Lord says, Well done my good and faithful servant. Matthew 25:23
