Emily Abbyteen Hoyt

Emily Abbyteen Hoyt was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was born to Calvin and Bernice Onellion on October 26, 1925 in Franklin, LA. She gained her wings on May 26, 2021 at the age of 95, surrounded by her family in Hammond, LA.

 

Abbyteen loved spending time in the kitchen, cooking her gumbo, fried fish or tomato gravy and biscuits for her boys, Leroy, Valmond, Michael Bryant and Duane. They often drank coffee on mom’s porch with Jake. She spent years going to church or searching for yard sales with her loving daughter, Annette and many trips to the Smoky Mountains each year.

 

Abbyteen also loved to read, watch her soaps and garden shows, her coffee was on at 2pm each day for Jake. Friday, he brought her a catfish box and strawberry malt from Erdey’s each week. She had fun times with Sandra, going across the state on medicare insurance appointments and staying at casino hotels. Nothing compared to her love of her son, Valmon, they adored each other and drinking coffee.

 

Abbyteen is survived by her children, Sandra Hano Magnon and Valmon Hano (Glenda); three special daughters and son, Deborah Buchanan, Valorie Brandley, Michelle Hoyt and Duane Buchanan; brother, Marvin Onellion; grandchilden, Tammy McManus, Donna Buchanan, Cindy Hano, Deshea Rhodus, Wesley Hano, Wanda Hano, Bridget Hano, Tammy Bankston, Kenna Hano Route, Ken Williams and Gary Hoyt; too many great grandchildren to list and over 50; lots of nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, J. D. Hoyt; daughter, Annette Whitehead; sons, Leroy Hano, Michael Hoyt; grandsons, Kyle Hano and Eli Bradley; granddaughters, Sheila Hano, Suzanne Stewart, Sasha Hano and Bradley Buchanan; parents, Calvin and Bernice Onellioin.
