Raymond Anthony “Peanut” Chauvin Sr

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Raymond Anthony “Peanut” Chauvin Sr will be 10 am Monday at St John the Baptist Catholic Church Edgard. Interment to follow in the church mausoleum.

He was born on December 16, 1926 in Garyville, LA, a native of Edgard, and died on Friday April 2, 2021 at St. Joseph Manor at the age of 94 years.

He was a member of Woodmen of the World, and honorary member of the United Steel Workers of America. He was a retired Lab Tech from Kaiser Aluminum.  He served his country during the Korean Conflict with the U S Army and received three medals of Honor. He enjoyed gardening, and fishing. His greatest passion was his family, who meant the world to him.

He is preceded in death by his parents Philip and Esperance Leroux Chauvin, his in-laws Lewis and Alice Abadie, son David Chauvin, daughter-in-law Dianne Chauvin, siblings Amelie Kaupp (Calvin), Eugene and Audrey Chauvin, Ivy and Shirley Chauvin, Philip Chauvin Jr., brothers-in-law Francis Pellegrin and Ronnie Demarche.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, the love of his life Kathleen, children Raymond Jr (Jane), Wayne, Dickie (Bobbie), Debbie (Sidney) Borne, Tuttie (J. J.) Hubbell, Glenda (Harold Jr) Rodrigue, and Rhonda (Carl) Strube, siblings Verline Pellegrin, Bertha Demarche, Ray Chauvin (Christine), Myles Chauvin (Linda), Paulette Amedee (Nolan), sister-in-law Winnie T. Chauvin, also survived by 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family expresses their heartfelt appreciation and special thanks to the staff of Haydell Hospice and St. Joseph Manor.
