Jacqueline “Jackie” Sue Felps

Jacqueline “Jackie” Sue Felps, aged 78, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 2, 2021 at her home. She was born April 16th, 1942 in San Antonio, Texas to Jack Clayton Miller and Julia Holder Miller and raised in Gulfport, Mississippi. She attended Southeastern Louisiana University and married the love of her life Luther Felps on December 22nd, 1962 in Hammond, Louisiana. A born-again Christian, she avidly attended Sunday services at Greenwell Springs Baptist Church. She lived life to the fullest through the simple pleasures of writing, reading, and gardening. Her love for writing earned her the International Library of Poetry’s 2000 Editor’s Choice Award for her poem “Maw Maw’s Flight”.

She is survived by her children, Brian Felps, Carla F. Batrous and husband Scott, and Wesley Felps; grandchildren, Corey Batrous and wife Zaihong, Katelynn Batrous Wilson and husband Simeon, Sarah Batrous and Ethan Batrous; and great-grandchildren, Andy Zhang Batrous and Griffin Levi Wilson. She joins her parents, Jack Clayton Miller and Julia Holder Miller; husband Luther William Felps; and granddaughter Brianna Hope Batrous in Heaven.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 10:30am at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Baker with Rev. George Threeton officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:15am until time of service.

Church Funeral Service of Walker is in charge of the arrangements.
