Ida Guidroz Bonaventure

Ida Guidroz Bonaventure, died on April 1st, 2021, at the age of 97.  She was born August 3, 1923, in Mix, Louisiana.  A resident of Baton Rouge for the last 74 years, she leaves behind one daughter, Cathryn Bonaventure Stanley, and son-in-law, John Brent Stanley; a granddaughter, Bonnie Soileau Bastin and husband Corey; two step-granddaughters, April Stanley Robertson, and Ashley Stanley Kellett; four great-grandchildren, Isabella Rose Pettyjohn, Ava Jailyn Soileau, Josiah Christian Pettyjohn, and Emma Cathryn Pettyjohn; twelve step-great grandchildren, Brianna and Blake Jones, Matthew, Joshua, Caleb, and Gracie Germany; Kimber and Kade Robertson; Peyton and Piper Kellett; and Vivienne and Phoebe Bastin; several nieces, nephews, and friends; and best friend, Margaret Landry.  In the last five weeks, she’d come to depend on three angels who came into her life to assist with caring for her:  Felicia Cash, Jo Anna Laird, and Kimberlee Payne. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Clifford J. Bonaventure; parents, Gustave and Francesca Robillard Guidroz; and five brothers: Alvin, Ellett, Edward, Harry, and Russell Guidroz; and a beloved grandson, Jordan Lambert Soileau. 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 10th, 2021, at 9:00 am at Graceworks Church, 16131 Highway 44, Prairieville, LA.  Memorial Service will begin at 10:00 am.  Private burial of ashes will take place at a later date.

Her biggest accomplishments in life were caring for her mother for 28 years and living independently until February 23rd, 2021 when she moved in with her daughter and son-in-law.  Ida enjoyed working in her yard well into her 80’s, loved to watch the soap opera “The Young and The Restless” until her macular degeneration became severe, and also enjoyed talking to various family members and friends on the phone.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your preferred charitable organization.
