Ellis Alvin Nickens

A ceremony celebrating the life of Ellis Alvin Nickens will be held on Saturday August 29, 2020 at 12 noon, visitation will begin at 10 am, services will be at Galvez Pentecostal Church. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Mr. Nickens was born on December 1, 1931 in Galvez and passed from this life on Thursday morning August 27, 2020 at the age of 88 years.

He was a native of Galvez and a resident of Satsuma for the past 17 years. He was retired from Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. He was devoted and faithful lifetime member of Galvez Pentecostal Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents Alton and Ethel Hawkins Nickens, sister Audrey Cantu, and a grandson Troy Blair.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years Elaine Lavigne Nickens; children Sheila Blair (Roger), Terry Nickens (Patrice), David Nickens (Wanda), Sharon Mitchell (Danny), James Nickens (Lisa), and Darren Nickens (Mary); brother A. J. Nickens, sister-in-law Gwen Nickens; also survived by 12 grandchildren, and 27 great grandchildren.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Daryl Nickens, Jeff Blair, Clint Nickens, Hayden Nickens, Daniel Jones, and Conner Hayden.
