Responsibly Serving Local Families
During the COVID-19 Crisis

At Church Funeral Services, we want you to know we are continuing to serve local families while steadfastly following state and local requirements to ensure everyone's health and safety.

Due to social distancing conditions and CDC restrictions on large in-person gatherings, some of our services are modified at this time; to learn about the options currently available to local families, contact us at (225) 644-9683.

As we continue to serve the community, safety remains our top priority. Along with the meticulous standards for hygiene we have always maintained, we are currently following additional cleaning protocols to ensure a safe environment for both families and staff. We must implement some new guidelines to be able to reach this goal. These new guidelines are intended for the protection of everyone:

  • Funeral arrangements by phone, email or fax is preferred. For those families that would prefer making arrangements in person with a funeral director at one of our 3 locations will be limited to Only the Legal next of kin at the arrangement conference. Everyone else can attend via cell phone. Clothing for the deceased must be placed inside a closed bag.
  • Certified Death Certificates: Can be mailed to designated person or only 1 designated person will be allowed to come to our office to pick them up.
  • Facetime or photo identification is preferred for the identification of Remains before cremation or immediate burial at the cemetery. If identification is done in person, only the legal next of kin will be allowed to view the deceased and can do a group facetime with the rest of the family. 15 minute time limit.
  • For funeral services or cremation services we will be following all guidelines established and set forth by the CDC, NFDA, Government Agencies, Church Regulations and Cemetery Guidelines.
  • To receive the cremated remains of a loved one: Only the person that is listed on the Cremation Authorization may come to receive the remains, unless we receive verbal permission from the legal Next of Kin to release to someone else.

Joyce Ann Boone Cart, 80 years old, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2020. She was born in Oakdale, Louisiana on March 8, 1940 to A.J.  and Georgia Boone.  After graduating from Oakdale High School in 1958, she married the love of her life Ernie Cart. Joyce and Ernie later moved to Zachary, Louisiana where they made their home and raised their 5 sons. Joyce never was one to sit idle; she worked in many different fields including telephone operator and longtime school bus driver. She was always ready for a roadtrip or gathering and would welcome you into her home with open arms and a bite to eat.  Joyce had a servants’ heart, an adventurous spirit and a smile that would light up the dark. Her love for her husband and sons is evident in their love and adoration of her. Her crowning role was grandma, she had no greater joy than her grandchildren. She was a dedicated wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She loved with a love that was more than love.  Joyce is survived by her sons and spouses, Joey & LaTrelle, Greg & Debbie, David, Todd & Belinda, Chris & Sarah; grandchildren, Brody, Austin, JR, Gigi, Jack, Brandon, Nick, Josh, Alan, Tiffany, & Tyler; and twelve great grandchildren with one on the way; a sister, Tina and two brothers, Gene & Bubba; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her adoring husband, Ernie; her parents and brother Sonny Boone. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joyce’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She wore a crown of patience, as she struggled on and on, and the hands that rest forever, are the hands that made our home. Always true, unselfish and kind, her strength was unequal and hard to find, a beautiful life that came to an end, she died as she lived, everyone’s friend.
