Nicholas E. Meyer “Nick”

Nicholas E. Meyer “Nick” (or “Nicky,” as many family members called him) was a “bayou rat.” He was born in the Lower Ninth Ward in New Orleans and enjoyed a wonderful extended family who spent much of their time in the marshes and bayous of St. Bernard Parish. Nick loved to hunt, fish, and enjoy the outdoors. Nick joined the Air Force National Guard in 1965. He served six years at Alvin Callender Field in New Orleans. He met the love of his life, Phyllis, on a New Year’s Eve blind date. It must have been a meeting aligned by the stars for they married exactly one year later the following New Year’s Eve. He was proud that they recently celebrated their forty-ninth anniversary. Nick opened a small printing business that later transitioned into P & N Promos. As a businessperson, he has been actively involved in the community. His current arid past memberships include, Cortana and St. Bernard Kiwanis Clubs, East Ascension and St. Bernard Rotary Clubs, MOSS, Thebians, Tip Masters, Ascension and St. Bernard Chambers of Commerce. He has served these organizations with distinction and has been recognized with numerous citations. Nick has two daughters, Stacy Thrower who with husband Michael Thrower, currently of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Jessica Meyer, currently of Washington D.C. Nick was very proud of his wonderful grandchildren Nicholas Thrower, Aurora Badeaux, Joseph Thrower, Thomas Thrower, and Mallory Thrower. Nick was the son of Barbara Ann Federico Meyer and Otto Meyer of New Orleans, both predeceased. He leaves behind the fathers of his grandchildren, Mike Thrower, and Corey Badeaux, both of which he loved to the fullest. He leaves also brother Louis Flair and numerous cousins and close friends. A ceremony celebrating the life of Nick will be 1 pm Saturday January 18, 2020 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Prairieville. Arrangements with Church Funeral Services & Crematory
