Elsie T. Singletary

Elsie was born January 9, 1935 and passed away on December 6, 2018 at The Crossing of Clarity just shy of her 84th birthday from terminal brain cancer. Elsie was a graduate from Spencer Draugh Business College. She started her first job at the LSU Plant Store and stayed loyal as a Senior Accountant for thirty-two years until August 1984. From 1984 until December 2007, Elsie and her husband started and ran S&S Transportation. 65 years ago, Elsie married the love of her life and best friend, Buren Singletary. Since then the two haven’t been apart. Her life was devoted to caring for her husband and family. Not only did they love watching LSU sports, they were also dedicated seat holders on the bleachers at their children and grandchildren’s ball games and dance recitals. Elsie also had a passion for fishing. On most days you could find her on her swing at the camp in Pierre Part, reeling in the biggest fish. She really enjoyed teaching the art of fishing to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Although Elsie was a woman of little words, she had an enormous amount of love for her family and friends. Elsie was also devoted to her church, Faithful United Methodist Church, enjoyed reading romance novels, and gardening. She could make anything grow from the tiniest clipping or seed. Elsie was also a member of VFW Post 3693 Ladies Auxiliary for many years. Elsie was always there to lend a helping hand, but never questioning why. Her desire to help others is so admirable. She will begreatly missed by all who loved and knew her. Elsie is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Bertha Tullier; siblings, Myrtle Cormier, Mallory Swanson, Clayton Tullier, and John Tullier. Elsie is survived by her husband, Buren Redrick Singletary; her four children and their spouses: Marian and Libby Singletary, Andrea and Kerry Braud, Kent and Dana Singletary, and Kim and Melissa Singletary; grandchildren: Mandy Grier and spouse Jason, Kelli Braud and spouse Billy Williamson, Dustin Singletary and spouse Jessica, Jaimee Pentas and spouse Nick, Alec Singletary, Cole Payne and spouse Richard, Loren Babin, and Brandon Hardaway; great grandchildren: Alyssa, Schuyler, and Miller Pentas, Isabella and Abigail Grier, Avery Guinn and Amelie Williamson, Kensley and Tristan Singletary. Elsie is also survived by her sister, Margaret Tullier and sisters in law, Pat and Betty Tullier; three aunts: Elmire Deroche, Dolly Jummonville, and Marie Martinez. Services will be held at Faithful United Methodist Church on Hwy 431 on Monday December 10, 2018. There will be a viewing at 9:30am and a service to follow beginning at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, we are asking for donations to The Crossing of Clarity Hospice Care. Arrangements by Church Funeral Services, St. Amant 225-644-9683 www.churchfuneralservices.com
