Charles G. Vicknair

A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he died peacefully at his home on Friday October 19, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was 77 and a native and resident of Whitehall. He was a retired plant operator for Kaiser Aluminum and Rain CII with 40 years of service. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1960-1964. Charles loved LSU football, he enjoyed the outdoors and writing poems for his grandchildren. Survived by his wife of 50 years, Olivia Gregoire Vicknair; 2 sons, Timothy “Timmy” and wife Dana Vicknair, & Kevin Vicknair; 2 daughters, Lynelle and husband Joe Marchand, & Leslie Bercegeay; 8 grandchildren, Trent and wife Chelsea Vicknair, Leia Vicknair, Logan and Londen Marchand, Slade, Sloane, and Saige Bercegeay, & Lawson Vicknair; 2 sisters, Mercy Babin, & Gloria Gregoire. He was preceded in death by his parents, Amaluce and Althea Fontenot Vicknair; brother, Amaluce “T June” and wife Bertha Vicknair; sisters, Velma and husband Pete Tureau, & Nita “Pap” and husband Ed White; and brother in laws, Eldred Babin & Dewey Gregoire. Visitation at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Whitehall, on Thursday October 25, 2018 from 9:00-11:00 with Mass at 11:00. Rev. Jason Palermo, celebrant. Interment at Port Hudson National Cemetery on Friday October 26, 2018. Pallbearer will be Gary Vicknair. Honorary pallbearers will be Trent Vicknair, Logan and Londen Marchand, Slade Bercegeay, Lawson Vicknair, & Eric Gregoire.
