Floyd Joseph Melancon “Flop”

A ceremony celebrating the life of Floyd Joseph “Flop” Melancon will be held on Saturday Sept 8, 2018 at St Theresa-Avila Catholic Church Gonzales; visitation will begin at 9 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am. Mr. Melancon was born on February 15, 1945 in Union, LA and departed from this life on Friday August 31, 2018 at his residence in Prairieville at the age 73 years. He was retired with Shell Oil Company, a member of the Catholic Faith; he enjoyed being outdoors, golfing, fishing and camping. He was an avid fan of LSU sports. He is preceded in death by his parents Claiborne Joseph and Mary Ann Sarazin Melancon; and a brother Francis Melancon. Survivors include his lifelong partner Judy McGehee; his son Eric Melancon and partner Jeremy Meiske; sister Rita Mire and husband Lyle; also survived by his canine companion “Bosley”, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
