Frank “Jack” John Roth, Iii

Frank “Jack” John Roth III, 90 years of age, passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Jefferson Manor, Baton Rouge, LA. Frank was born December 12, 1927 in Atchison KS to the late Frank John Roth II & Alena Maxine Hittibrandy Roth of Atchison KS. He was an only child.  He graduated from Atchison High School and joined the United States Navy in 1946, Seaman 1st Class, Air Traffic Controller-Tower Operator and was awarded the Victory medal.  Following his military service, Frank attended the University of Kansas, where he received a BA in Fine Arts and was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity and the Sigma Phi Epsilon Barbershop Quartet.  In his adult years, Frank was a member of the Atchison KS Jaycees, President of Atchison Junior Chamber of Commerce and a member of Pineview Country Club.  Frank retired as an Electrician in 1991, after 41 years.  He was a member of International Brotherhood Electrical Workers (IBEW) Union for 64 years. Hobbies included:  golf, avid football fan, woodworking, painting, photography, music including playing his ukulele and harmonica, birdwatching, gardening, and he was a lover of animals, particularly his dog Dougan and his Persian cat, Omar. During his early adult life, Frank married Joan (Bigelow) and they had two children.  In 1969, Frank married the love of his life, Amber (Fairman) in Elderton, PA where they raised four children and retired in Jacksonville, NC and spent the last few years of his life in Baton Rouge, LA. Survivors include wife, Amber of Baton Rouge, LA; children Gregory Allen Omasta (Diane), Kittaning, PA; Susan Diane Omasta, Baton Rouge, LA; John Richard Roth, Atchison, KS; son-in-law Carl Liberty (Gerri), Rulo, NE; nine grandchildren: Jodi Liberty Bodden (Carlos); Jennifer Christene Omasta (Christopher); Mandy Kim Thorpe (Robert); Michael Lawrence Omasta; Lauren Ashlea Omasta; Amber Alexis Omasta; David Omasta (Lexi); John Omasta; Keri Omasta Wagner (William); and 11 great-grandchildren: Marcus, Dylan, Heaven, Devan, Christian, Bentley, Dalyla, Alea, Colby, and Brooklyn.  Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Kenneth, his daughters, Georgia and Teri (Field); and his great-grandson, Ethan. Frank touched the lives of many, many people; he left an everlasting impression to those who loved him.  We know the gates of heaven opened for you and you were greeted by familiar faces. Thank you for loving our family and accepting everyone for who they were. Thank you for being a positive influence on Greg, Rich, Susie and Georgie! Rest in Peace and give Rich and Georgie a huge hug from all of us! Memorial service will be held at Jefferson Manor Nursing Care in Baton Rouge, LA on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at 2 p.m., by Chaplain Tim Boswell.
