Bobby E. Gill “Bob”

Bobby E. Gill “Bob”was born 11-6-1936 in Ponchatoula, LA, passed away 6-10-2018 at home in Gonzales, LA. After high school graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, specializing in Crypto & Communications Technology, serving in Europe, Southeast Asia and the U.S. In 1971 Bob served as a civilian, Special Asst. to the State Dept. at the American Embassy in Vientiane, Laos. Returning to the Air Force, he came back to the states, later retiring after 20 years’ service. Bob then worked 20 years with General Electric in electronics & communications in Miami, FL. He was a First Degree Black Belt, a member of the British Judo Council & U.S. Judo Assoc. He instructed classes for adults and youth. In Miami, Bob was a member of the American Legion, the Moose and Elks Lodge #948, where he was Exalted Ruler in 2007. Preceded in death by his father, Lemuel C. Gill, mother, Dorothy Mounce Gill, brothers, Lemuel Jr., Jeny, and Hollis Gill; sister, Jeri Yvonne Gill; his first wife and Michael’s mother, Christiane Menard Gill, and second wife, Jeanne J. Gill. Bob is survived by his wife Barbara Drepperd Gill, her sons Bill & Bob Glassford, son Michael Gill (Sylvie) of Bordeaux, France, grandson Anthony Gill, of New Orleans & brother Ronald Gill (Kathy) of Baton Rouge; a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Bob was comforted by the care, love and devotion of nieces, Sandra Aucoin, Sarah Bass, Dorothy Bellocq, & Tammy Braud, their husbands and his church family. Appreciation is also expressed to Hospice in His Care. Elks Lodge 1398, from Plaquemine, will perform an Elks Memorial Service, prior to the Celebration of Life Service, Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 3 P.M., Meadows Chapel United Methodist Church, 16172 Hwy.73, Prairieville, LA 70769. Family and Friends visitation will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, 4950 Essen Lane, Baton Rouge, LA 70809.Elks Lodge 13.
