Calvin James Bajon, Sr. peacefully passed away on April 2, 2018 as he went to be with his Lord at the age of 93 years old. He was born in White Castle on May 30, 1924 and a graduate of White Castle High School in 1941. He honorably served in the Navy as a 1st class Pharmacist’s Mate during WWII and received a BS in pharmacy from Loyola University in 1950, as well as the title “Doctor of Pharmacy” years later. He served Southdowns area over 30 years as a pharmacist managing Food Town, then opened his own drugstore, Bajon’s Prescription Center in Baton Rouge. He was a dedicated usher at St. Jude Catholic Church and one of the founding pharmacists at St. Vincent de Paul. His unwavering faith in Jesus Christ touched many people throughout his journey. He had a passion for music, he was especially skilled at playing the piano, and reached expert-level at HAM radio. Special thanks and gratitude to his wife, children, and all who cared for and visited during his last days spent on earth. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Rodosta Bajon; two sons, Jeff Bajon and Craig Bajon; two daughters, Laurie Bajon and Chris Bajon Jones (Gordon); one brother, Paul Cire Bajon; three sisters, Robin Bajon Edwards, Cheryl Bajon, Jean Bajon Weber; three granddaughters, Brooke Bajon, Carley Bajon, and Adrianne Bajon; and one great granddaughter, Kameron Boykin. He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis Omer Bajon and Maud Marie Leblanc Bajon; his son, Calvin “Jim” Bajon, Jr.; his brothers, L.J. Bajon, Charlton A. Bajon, Sr., Edward C. Bajon; his sisters, Shirley Bajon Babin, Mary Alice Bajon, Trudy Bajon; and his step-mother, Alma Lacroix Bajon. Visitation will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church on Monday, April 9th from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm and again on Tuesday, April 10th from 9:00 am to 10:30 am immediately followed by funeral service at 10:30 am.
