Marwin “Pete” Ratcliff

A ceremony celebrating the life of Mr. Marwin “Pete” Ratcliff will be held at 11:00am Wednesday at Colyell Baptist Church, visitation will be Tuesday, December 19, 2017 6:00pm until 9:00pm and will resume on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 9:00am until time of the service. Interment will follow at Colyell Community Cemetery. Mr. Ratcliff was born on February 27, 1954 and passed from this life on Saturday December 16, 2017 at his home. He was a resident of Livingston Parish; a master mechanic having worked over 34 years with Cooper T. Smith Stevedoring; and a member of Operators Union Local 406. He enjoyed farming, cattle and antique tractors. His passion was his work and especially his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a remarkable story teller. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Agnes Guitreau Ratcliff, a son, Marwin Ratcliff Jr and his twin brother, Darwin. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Dianne Meyers Ratcliff; his children, John Blount (Tiffany), Lori Payne (Joseph), Jody Blount (Shannon), Jonathan Hedgepath (Sabrina), and Christy Hedgepath; his siblings, Barbara Malone (Frank), Eddie Ratcliff (Joan), John Ratcliff, Virginia Christian (Richard), Dewanna Christian (Robert), Norvel Ratcliff (Donna); his grandchildren, Kayla, Dillon, Jonathan, Dallas, Kandace, Amanda, Lacey, Mirinda, Brianah, Cody, Caleb, Cade, Christopher, Emelie, Zeta, Charlie, Jessica and Joshua; his great grandchildren Christian, Dane Jr., Tyson, Carson, Berkleigh, Kameron, Kaiden, Hayze, Chandler and Aiden; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews; and his beloved Cooper T. Smith Stevedoring Family. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation and thanks to his work family, for their care given and their love shown to Pete.
